A (Big) Chip On The Register's Shoulder

The Register has managed to squeeze a few weak laughs out of Second Life Manchester that is being launched tonight as part of the Big Chip Awards for the North West’s digital industries.
The Register piece bangs on about virtual rain and scallies wearing baggy jeans plus refers to ‘Madchester’ bands which suggests the article’s writer is stuck in a kind of ‘Life On Mars’ time warp (circa 1989) when it comes to perceptions of Skip’s adopted hometown.
But to be fair the Tony Wilson ‘avatar’(ref: image 2 above) that has been created (he’s hosting the Big Chip gongs both in the flesh and simultaneously in Second Life Manchester apparently) is strange in many ways. First off it’s an Anthony H looking slim, fit and about 20 years younger (and minus the fantastic grey beard he is currently sporting) and second - it looks absolutely nothing like him (ref: image 1 above)
Mind you, all SL avatars look like Max Headroom to Skipper - and he was created over 20 years ago (ref: image 3 above).
